Massage Therapist - MIT (Cambridge, MA)

part-time, approximately 20 hrs/wk

MIT Recreation, managed by HealthFitness, is looking for Massage Therapists to work on-campus in Cambridge, MA.  In this position, you will be responsible for administering professional massage services to a wide variety of members and guests.

What you'll be doing  

• Provide safe, appropriate and effective massage therapy techniques for MIT Recreation members and community.
• Determine precautions and contraindications to massage therapy prior to each session.
• Explain techniques and apply appropriately to each client based on needs and preferences.
• Solicit feedback and respond to client reaction by modifying techniques as necessary.
• Document all massage therapy sessions performed according to HF guidelines.
• Maintain client confidentiality and sensitivity to age and gender during all massage therapy sessions. Report any unusual client interactions to supervisor immediately.
• Provide massage orientation services, education seminars and market massage services upon request.
• Must function as an active member of an integrated health and wellness team and support department wide events and strategies.
• Perform numerous massage modalities and adjust delivery mode to address the needs of each customer.
• General understanding of body treatments and be willing and able to learn the products and services provided.
• Therapist must be willing and capable to deliver on site chair massage in a corporate setting (incidental travel, set-up and tear down) in addition to a spa like environment within a fitness center.

What you'll need 

• Massage Therapy License for the state of Massachusetts required.
• Current Adult CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute.
• 1+ years of massage therapy experience required.
• Experience in sports massage techniques.
• Good communication skills; listening and verbal.
