MIT Recreation, managed by HealthFitness, is looking for an Assistant Director of Marketing; Content & Design to join the team in Cambridge, MA.  In this position, you will will assist the Marketing Director in the development and distribution of marketing collateral and information, content creation and implementation of blog stories, social media marketing, and design and drafting of promotional content. You will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining timelines, budgets, marketing strategies, and other assigned projects. This is an on-site, full-time role working Monday-Friday (9-5) hours. May require occasional/quarterly evening or weekend hours for special events.


What you'll be doing:

  • Design and production of print marketing such as small and large-scale prints and facility signage while managing the print budget and adhering to project deadlines.
  • Development and implementation of a complete social media and blog (content) strategy. Manage the MIT Recreation blog and professional social media accounts including, but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Yelp, Google+, etc. with a consistent on-brand voice.
  • Assist in generating and organizing program promotions, soliciting potential promotional vendors, and managing all associated budget items.
  • Adhere to existing brand standards, maintain department’s brand identity and overall creative graphic design work, including design, production and oversight of materials.
  • Manage, promote and support needs of the department including membership and program promotion, event planning, and special event coverage.
  • Facilitate and manage marketing projects including regular meetings with program staff.
  • Design, develop, implement, and track digital content for the department blog and social media including writing blog posts, facilitating photography, and communicating with stakeholders to tell relevant and trending stories.
  • Contribute to email marketing initiatives, special promotions, and important updates. Manage and update the department website.
  • Track KPIs and pivot based on data analysis. Assist in administering surveys and report findings to the department.
  • Communicate university and departmental policy, procedures and information to the members in a timely and effective manner.
  • Participate in campus programs and committees which further the mission of the Institute. (ex: Campus Preview Week, Athletics Gateway etc.). Facilitate collaboration across campus that further supports MIT Recreation marketing.
  • Maintain a high-level understanding of Inbound Marketing and its components. Assist in managing SEO including the development and implementation of keyword strategies to increase ranking and traffic.
  • Perform market and industry research on relevant organizational topics and extrapolate respective intelligence to be evaluated and used for business’s progression.
  • Complete other projects and duties as assigned by the Marketing Director.


What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic or Web Design, or related field and 3+ years direct experience.
  • Proficiency in social media management and Adobe CC including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Ideal candidate will also have WordPress experience & familiarity with HTML and CSS.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce basic photography and video productions.
  • Advanced skills in writing for blog content and other digital media.
  • Prior experience developing high-level digital and print marketing collateral.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous projects.
