 To help us drive excellence, as a 1st Shift Machine Repair Technician, you’ll get to:

 

  •  Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Press machine repair is a plus
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect and repair any malfunctions.
  • Discusses machine operation variations with supervisors, operators, or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Must complete required classes in accordance with designated General Repair II Program.
  • Understands, supports, and implements the company safety policies; Quality policy, housekeeping; and continuous improvement skills into daily work habits.
  • Understands and adheres to all safety guidelines as required by OSHA and specified in the L&W mechanical/electrical standard (BMES) document.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.

Required Skills

·         High school Diploma or general education degree (GED); or five to seven years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience

·         Journeyman’s card preferred


Required Experience

·         Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals 

·         Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

·         Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form 

·         Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

·         Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations

·         Ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures in a professional and consistent manner

·         Able to apply common sense understanding and use appropriate judgment in routine business situations with supervisor, co-workers and customers
