To help us drive excellence, as a Prototype Engineer, you’ll get to:
· Support the Company’s mission, vision, values and goals in performance of daily activities.
· Provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurable to support the departmental goals.
· Provides expert analysis and engineering acumen for the design and development of all prototype project builds.
· Applies knowledge of engineering principles to guide development of prototypes with production tooling, fixtures, and designs.
· Manage and coordinate all GPIRS orders and prototype builds.
· Recommends adjustments to development and designs in support of all prototype builds. Supports all prototype builds at the plant to ensure parts are built with proper pedigree, quality, and quantity and packaged to proper customer requirements.
· Lead and manage prototype build source, maintain prototype timing, ensure quality aspects are checked, validated and documented, ensure proper part tagging, containerization and ship to locations have been validated.
· Measures quality, product conformity with plans and manufacturability of model.
· Support vehicle builds when both production and prototype parts are coordinated.
· Guide and/or review parts designs for reliability, availability and quality standards.
· Follow assemblies to ensure fit, form and function is satisfied.
· Coordinate parts for PCF build requirements, ensure parts meet proper Blue and Scribe requirements and that parts are packaged, identified and shipped per customer requirements.
· Collaborates with purchasing and vendors in cross-functional projects to ensure completion.
· Manages budget, project schedule, milestones and deliverables.
· Lead and/or advise root cause analysis and team problem solving activities (ex. 8D reports, department meetings, etc.).
· Responsible for adhering to all internal and OSHA required safety procedures in performing daily work activities.
· Assures compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations and laws.
This full-time role is a part of our Design team and reports to Prototype Manager
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred.
· Zero to three (3) years’ experience.
· Experience with model shops, tooling design and fixture creation.
· Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
· Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.
