We are seeking a skilled Fabricator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for layout, fit, and fabrication of metal components to assemble structural forms and repair machine parts, applying knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements.

Experience welding Heavy Machinery is a plus

Weld metal parts using gas welding, brazing, and various arc welding processes.

- Perform thermal cutting and grinding as required.

- Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and weld overlay metal components.

- Utilize non-destructive testing (NDT) methods to locate and repair cracks in large fabrications.

- Position and set up components for weld repairs and fabrication.

- Accurately layout parts and assemblies according to specifications, creating templates and work aids as needed.

- Rig (using cranes) and fixture parts to be welded.

- Weld components in various positions (flat, vertical, overhead), adjusting amperage, voltage, and speed to ensure quality welds.

- Inspect grooves, angles, gap allowances, and assembly aspects for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.

- Pre-heat parts to facilitate effective welding.

- Conduct quality checks to ensure compliance with standards using various inspection tools.

 


Required Skills

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and written instructions.

- Familiarity with industry standards for equipment setup and use.

- Knowledge of different welding gases and their appropriate applications.

- Proficiency with shop equipment and power tools, including overhead cranes and forklifts.

- Ability to inspect welded joints and components for quality assurance.

- Capable of planning welding operations based on engineering specifications.

- Skilled in using and adjusting MIG welders for various flux core wire sizes.

- Physically able to perform moderate exertion tasks, including stooping, bending, and climbing in confined spaces.

- Must be able to wear a positive-pressure welding hood when necessary.

- Ability to achieve both time and quality standards while maintaining safety protocols.

- Knowledge of welding prints and identification of required weld types and placements.

- Proficient in reading a tape measure and interpreting blueprints.

- Competent in using air, power, and hand tools, particularly torches and grinders.

- Mechanically inclined with the ability to analyze and coordinate with team members effectively.

- Must work safely, adhering to established policies and procedures.

- Own tools and equipment necessary for welding tasks.

 


Required Experience

Candidates may be required to pass performance or standard tests to meet certification standards for various welding processes, including but not limited to SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, plasma cutting, and others.
