We are looking for a Cross Section Technician to join our team!
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for completing the Cross-Section process in a timely manner, in order to ensure that the integrity of our final product is maintained.
The Cross Section Technician performs cross-sectional analysis of welds including but not limited to identifying cut locations on our product, cutting out welds, grinding down welds, etching welds with acid, and viewing weld sections using PAXIT hardware and software.
Knowledge of the proper and safe use of plasma cutters, power tools, and hand tools is required, along with excellent software and clerical skills as they pertain to cross-section record keeping.
The Cross-Section Technician may also perform receiving, in-process and final audits as required, recording of inspection data, and maintaining inspection records associated with the process. They ensure proper data collection and analysis for process control and process improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Maintain the Cut/Etch/Measure system to insure compliance to all Quality Management System and Environmental Management System standards and safety standards
· Maintain accurate cross-sectional analysis data using the PAXIT measuring system.
· Conduct preventive maintenance and project work on equipment related to the Cut and Etch process.
· Communicate (electronically, oral, or written) with the Quality Leader, Weld Engineer, other shift operators, and quality control personnel, on the current conditions of weld quality
· Maintain updated written and electronic records
· Clean and maintain the work area, perform 5S cleaning and/or 5S project work as a standard practice during any and all downtime
· Safe Operation of lift trucks as required
· Basic understanding of Quality Management System and Environmental Management System requirements
· Excellent software and clerical skills as they pertain to the cross-section process and record keeping
· Proper and safe use of plasma cutters, power tools, and hand tools
· Proper use of PPE needed to safely perform job functions.
· Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with the Quality Leader, Maintenance, Engineers, and others to resolve issues
· Ability to accurately perform cross-section measurements, and record data using the PAXIT software
· Detail oriented with excellent follow-up skills
· Ability to work independently, self-starter
· Ability to work in a fast paced environment
· Ability to physically move throughout the work area and perform job functions
