 Leadership Responsibilities:

           

  • Obtains sample approval including customer dimensional layout, lab processes including documentation of acceptance or rejection of said samples.
  • Serves as Quality Management Representative for IATF16949.
  • Provides quality characteristics during product or process development to meet customer expectations.
  • Coordinates development and maintenance of the Quality Manual and Quality System Requirements.
  • Develops a short and long term quality and engineering plans identifying objectives that address the highest priority elements.
  • Identifies and analyzes total quality costs including prevention, appraisal, internal and external costs and formulating actions plans to reduce these costs.
  • Administers measuring equipment system.
  • Addresses and follows through with in-house and customer issues.
  • Audits vendor's ongoing quality control systems and participates in quality review audits in our facility by our customers.
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, equipment, and products.
  • Directs Engineering and Quality administrator for procedure/policy creation and revisions and ensures adherence through education.
  • Directs an ongoing Quality Training Program.
  • Provides support in solving production floor issues.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).
  • Travels to customers and suppliers as necessary.
  • Coordinates all department activities necessary for maintaining accurate inventory levels for production scheduling while achieving department and company goals.
  • Coordinates with other departments on new parts, sample parts and pilot parts to ensure timely delivery performance to customers.
  • Trains and delegates responsibilities to associates and develops reporting system for performance measurement.
  • Assigns projects to manufacturing/weld engineers.
  • Maintains ongoing improvement programs- (ie. blank reductions, improved run rates on equipment, reduced variation, implementing poke yoke devices, etc.)
  • Keeps 'up to date' on new technology available in the market and educate personnel on its use.
  • Responsible for layered process audits.
  • Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).
  • Adhering to and enforcing MIOSHA and Autokiniton Safety Committee standards.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Direct, lead, and maintain the team’s 5S excellence and adherence. 
  • Support company initiatives such as: IATF16949 & ISO 14001 compliance and TPM for the production area
  • Gives direction to production technical support to improve production processes to reduce scrap or costs.
  • Develop FMEA templates for core processes and control plans assuring update of best practices from lessons learned and past failure modes from the QMS Problem Solver system (L-Car) are addressed.
  • Conduct cross PFMEA reviews assuring process is real and FMEAs are utilized fully as an effective working document to develop control plans and standardized work instructions.
  • Control all related APQP Documents driving standardization throughout the Process
  • Assure that Team Feasibility Commitment form is filled out at the plant level and is reviewed again at Kick off for all exceptions. Report on status to program management and track.
  • Assure that the Program Management APQP gate structure is kept current with all relevant requirements and best practices.
  • Report the APQP status of new programs via all relevant Customer portals and sites and assist the plants in tracking and processing for submission’s of PPAPs in a timely and standardized method.
  • Report out any red status of gates that relates to the check sheet requirement and/or any items that may jeopardize the successful run at rate of new program equipment or tooling for S.O.P.  Assure that all information relating to the new program’s APQP status is ready for review in the new program weekly launch meeting.
  • Assist the plants in the development of safe launch containment plans and monitor the reported data for standardization and reporting of corrective action of spills, escapes, and failure modes that need to be addressed to assure a continued perfect launch.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is required.
  • Able and willing to work any shift assigned.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all duties.
  • Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.
  • Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Conforms to IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards and procedures. Champion IATF 16949 conformance in department.

 Managerial Responsibilities:

Manages subordinate supervisors and/or other colleagues identified on organization chart.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the quality and engineering departments.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

This Full-Time, Salary role is a part of our Autokiniton - Oakland team and reports to the Plant Manager.

Education and/or Experience: 

 

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:

 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

 

 Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

 

Business Judgment:

Ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures in a professional and consistent manner. Able to apply common sense understanding and use appropriate judgment in routine business situations with supervisor, co-workers, and customers.  Maintain the ultimate example of business judgment and professional conduct at all times.  The ability to understand and strictly follow both internal and external business ethics and standards

 

Technical Skills:

Ability to work with the following software packages or programs:

·         QAD database at a intermediate level
