Paraprofessional, MPTN Child Development Center

The Paraprofessional supports the delivery of high-quality early childhood education by assisting the lead teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. This role actively supports children’s development across all domains by facilitating play-based learning, guiding social-emotional growth, and assisting with daily classroom routines. The paraprofessional demonstrates a foundational understanding of child development and Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP), using positive guidance strategies to support behavior and promote inclusion. This position requires the ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team, communicate effectively with children, staff, and families, and follow instructional direction while also taking initiative when appropriate. The paraprofessional supports individualized learning by assisting with small group and one-on-one instruction, adapting activities to meet diverse needs, and helping ensure all children have access to inclusive and supportive experiences. High school diploma or equivalent preferred

· Obtain the paraprofessional certification.

· Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or associate degree in ECE or related field preferred (or willingness to obtain within a specific timeframe)

· CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

· Provide a TVCCA Staff Statement of Good Health statement signed by a physician, physician’s assistant, or nurse practitioner completed within twelve (12) months before the date of employment, and every thirty-six (36) months for current staff.

· Experience working with young children in a preschool, childcare, or early learning setting preferred

· Experience supporting children with diverse needs, including disabilities, preferred

· Assist the head teacher in implementing daily classroom routines, lesson plans, and activities

· Support children’s learning, play, and social interactions through active engagement

· Provide individual and small group support to reinforce learning and development

· Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment

· Support children’s social-emotional development and behavior using positive guidance strategies

· Assist with transitions, meals, toileting, and other daily care routines

· Adapt activities as directed to support children with diverse learning needs

· Observe and share information about children’s progress and behaviors with teaching staff

· Build positive relationships with children, families, and team members

· Follow all program policies, procedures, and licensing requirements

· Provide evidence of on-going career development.

· Adhere to TVCCA policies and procedures.

· Have a strong commitment to a quality childcare program.

· Work as scheduled.

· Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

· Follow directions.

· Perform several functions concurrently in a deadline driven environment.

· Take on additional tasks as required to maintain program and agency operations.

· Use effective and developmentally appropriate teaching practices

· Be able to work 40 hours/week and 52 weeks/year.
