SNAP Outreach Intern
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps low-income people buy the food, such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains, they need for good health.
The SNAP Outreach Intern works with consumers, local agencies, advocates, employers, community and faith-based organizations, and others to reach out to eligible households who are not currently participating in SNAP and share information about the nutrition benefits of SNAP. In addition, the SNAP Outreach Intern will conduct eligibility pre-screenings and assist potentially eligible clients with application completion and submission through the ConnectCT online application system. Duties include conducting community partner information sessions, promoting SNAP at community events, setting up client Myaccounts in ConnectCT, and submitting SNAP applications with correct documentation. Travel to various sites in New London County, as well as evening and weekend hours, to attend outreach events is required.
