MAJOR FUNCTION: The Program Coordinator for Information Technology, Online and Professional Development Training is a professional position that manages the information technology, online and professional development training programs, courses, and activities within the Division of Workforce Development. The position provides oversight including budgeting, managing of resources, and supervision of instructors for all Division of Workforce Development information technology, online and professional development training programs and/or courses. The position will be responsible for:
- Creating and implementing marketing strategies for both in-district and out-of-district customers to increase revenue from information technology, online and professional development training programs and courses as well as provide more community awareness of programs.
- Hiring, supervising, and evaluating assigned staff and maintaining all required documentation and files for programs.
- Providing direct services to customers, including students and employers. The position collaborates with other program coordinators to determine online training needs in the community and provides appropriate services.
- Developing and implementing new information technology, online and professional development training programs and courses.
- Researching, recommending, and negotiating with third party vendors for program/course offerings.
- Analyzing and evaluating past participation and success of existing programs to determine future programs goals and revisions.
- Working on job placement opportunities and follow-up activities for students served by establishing close working relationships with area employers to identify job opportunities for students.
- Acting as a liaison with campus department chairs on matters pertaining to off-campus non-credit workforce courses at existing extension sites.
- Developing draft training agreements, contracts, and Memoranda of Understanding with business, industry, social service agencies, and the community.
- Providing administrative and customer support for all course logistics including course/program advertising, materials duplication, audio-visual equipment and classroom supplies, registration and fee collection, follow-up calls to non-paid participants, classroom/meeting room arrangements, on-site participant check-in services and registration, course and instructor packets, evaluations, and certificates of completion for participants.
MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least four (4) years of experience in managing on-line training programs, information technology programs or other similar related employment activities. The master’s degree is preferred and may substitute for two of the required years of experience. Preference will also be given for fluent, bilingual (Spanish) language and previous supervisory and sales experience.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of the online and professional development Continuing Workforce Education (CWE) or non-credit training environments. Knowledge and skills using social media tools including social networking, Blogs, Wikis, video sharing, and Skype and related tools in support of distance learning programs. Knowledge and skill in operating a variety of software applications used in multimedia, course-ware development, and distributed learning products. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Skilled in the use of personal computers. Skilled in the use of electronic mail and the Internet for educational purposes. Skilled in the use of appropriate software applications such as Canvas and related tools, PowerPoint, Camtasia, etc. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Skilled in giving attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to work with users of varying technical expertise. Ability to meet established deadlines. Ability to work effectively independently and as a team member. Skilled in the use of desktop applications such as Microsoft Office. Possess excellent public relations, communications, and problem-solving skills. Have organizational skills with attention to detail are imperative. Possess a good attitude as well as the ability to work independently and cooperatively among colleagues. The ability to be an effective team member, flexible, with strong human relations skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills. Be self-motivated, self-directed and creative. Demonstrated experience in grants procurement and management. Demonstrated ability in staff supervision. Knowledge of program and curriculum development, and evaluation. Ability to promote partnerships with high schools and other alternative education programs.
