TITLE:                    Testing Specialist 

POSITION NO.:      P01238 

SECTION:               Student Affairs/Testing Center 

HIRING SALARY:  $24,960.00 - $27,336.16 annually; all salary calculations to start at the minimum salary 

HOURS:                  Monday 10am-7pm, Tuesday - Friday - 8am - 5pm & 2nd Saturday from 9am – 12:00pm

MAJOR FUNCTION:
  The Testing Specialist is a member of the Testing Center and will report to the Testing Coordinator.  The Testing Specialist’s primary responsibilities include, but is not limited to: 

  • Administers classroom tests, exit exams, and FPERT with appropriate accommodations determined by Student Accessibility Services; retrieves and delivers tests for each department, manually and/or electronically. 
  • Answers incoming calls; responds to inquiries via e-mail; provides front desk check-in services; schedules test appointments; maintains student test records; maintains student port information related to student testing and accommodations. 
  • Compiles data reports for Student Accessibility Services test administration and acts as technical support liaison to students and troubleshoots computer issues. 
  • Adheres to opening and closing procedures; participates in cross-training activities; updates Testing Center website for Disability Testing information. 

MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:  Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma and three (3) years of secretarial and/or clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING:  Knowledge of National College Testing Association standards and guidelines. Knowledge of filing systems. Knowledge of grammar and usage of the English language.  Knowledge of portal technologies (i.e. SharePoint).  Proficient in effective oral and written communication skills. Proficient in human relations and interpersonal communication skills.  Skilled in the use of a personal computer, internet, email, voicemail, scheduling software and multi-line phone system.  Ability to use excellent time management skills. Ability to manage numerous tasks with multiple interruptions. Ability to comprehend complex testing instructions and administer exams in accordance with instructions. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.  Ability to file, organize and retrieve computerized and paper records Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports. Ability to observe confidentiality and handle confidential information/documents.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; pleasant disposition.  Ability to work with diverse people and in diverse situations.  Ability to work independently or as part of a group.
