MAJOR FUNCTION:  The Success and Retention Coach - Rebuild Florida  is a grant funded position housed in the Division of Workforce Development. Identifies, locates, and/or develops lessons and experiences to provide career counseling activities around educational and career pathways and will report to the Vice President. The Success and Retention Coach primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

    • Interacts positively with Rebuild Florida students and assists them in overcoming anxieties related to schoolwork and testing.  Provides direct service to Rebuild Florida students regarding educational and career planning, success strategies, and resources.

    • Develops and implements retention plans.

    • Collaborates with other community resources to provide services to students and their families.
    • Reviews and implements academic development plans and develops progress reports for supervisor and VP for Workforce Innovation.
    • Maintains accurate records in compliance with Department of Economic Opportunity requirements.  

MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:  A master’s degree in counseling, education, student affairs personnel or a related area from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of related experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in a related area from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of related experience.       

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING:  Knowledge of policies and procedures. Knowledge of federal and state rules relative to financial aid awards, grants, loans, and scholarships. Knowledge of basic accounting principles. Strong people skills. Skills in operating personal computer software such a word processing and spreadsheets. Ability to work independently. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. Completion of assigned duties and tasks in timely manner.  Ability to work independently and make independent judgments.  Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing using the English language and to follow written and oral instructions.  Ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple work assignments.  Ability to speak in public and lead student groups.
