MAJOR FUNCTION:  The Commercial Vehicle Driving Adjunct Instructor is a position housed at the Transportation and Logistics Center of Excellence near TCC’s main campus. The Instructor’s major functions are to teach an appropriate, assigned Commercial Vehicle Driving education program through the facilitation of a teaching environment (lecture, group, or Individual) targeting a diverse population resulting in the earning of a State of Florida Class ‘A’ Licensure. The Instructor also works with the student and the educational staff to assist students with an academic and career plan. The Instructor reports directly to the Commercial Vehicle Driving Lead Instructor. 


MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or its equivalent required. Possess a current State of Florida’s Class ‘A’ License and five years of full-time tractor-trailer truck driving experience. At least one of the five years must be within the last 24 months.  Prior history of commercial vehicle driving instruction preferred, however not required. Certified FLHSMV Third-Party Tester preferred, however if not must be able to become a Certified FLHSMV Third-Party Tester. Must be considered insurable.


SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of and experience with tractor-trailer truck driving principles and applications. Knowledge of Florida Department of Education Commercial Vehicle Driving vocational framework. Commitment to the development and assessment of adult student learning. Use of technology and innovative approaches to enhance learning experience. Knowledge of teaching adult students and facilitating a rich learning environment for diverse populations. Knowledge of TCC policies and procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Skilled in project management, organization of tasks and responsive follow-through. Proficient with MS Office applications and internet navigation. Ability to use teaching strategies that meet varying abilities of students. Ability to critically assess situations and make sound judgments. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to communicate course material to students in an effective manner. Ability to interact with other program staff appropriately. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, and make Independent decisions. Ability to keep accurate & thorough records.
