The Associate Director of Development & Alumni Engagement supports Stetson University by managing various annual giving, alumni engagement, communications, and donor relations efforts of the College of Law. Serving as a member of the Development & Alumni Engagement Team, the Associate Director of Development & Alumni Engagement will develop a comprehensive annual fund strategy and provide support in the development of collateral materials. In alignment with Stetson’s Strategic Priorities, the Associate Director of Development & Alumni Engagement will provide support to the college that will result in student success and wellness while ensuring students receive an education that prepares them for their careers through experiential and integrative opportunities. This position will be working from our historic Gulfport campus with the ability to also work remotely. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop a comprehensive annual fund strategy and provide support in the development of collateral materials in conjunction with the department leader, Annual Giving Division colleagues, and other stakeholders. Strategies include call, text, social media, email, physical mail and event solicitation platforms. 

  • Manage online alumni directory platform. Management to include promotion of platform to alumni, creation of content within platform, and regular management of alumni requests and activity 

  • Supervise department student worker 

  • Work with the department leader and the Office of Gift Planning to coordinate a Planned Giving program at the College of Law 

  • Work with the department leader to outline annual and incremental quantitative fundraising goals and align activity to meet or exceed these goals 

  • Establish relationships with alumni, friends and other interested individuals and connect them with opportunities to advance the College of Law through financial contributions and volunteer leadership 

  • Represent the College of Law at events in the community and provide staff leadership at events sponsored by the College of Law.  

  • Coordinate with the department leaders and the College of Law Communications Office to develop stories and share events and newsworthy information with alumni 

  • Coordinate with the department leader and College of Law Communications Office on the production of the Stetson Lawyer magazine and other mailed and emailed communication pieces 

  • Works with the Communications Office to brand and maintain the Development and Alumni Engagement website 

  • Input outreach, meeting notes, proposals into customer relationship management database 

  • Occasional travel is required. Flexibility to work nights and weekends on occasion is required 

  • Maintains a collaborative work environment and works well with others  

  • Lifting occasionally up to 20 lbs. may be needed. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment:  

  • Work duties performed primarily in temperature-controlled office, with frequent customer interaction.
  • Department team members can work remotely up to two days each week 

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required. Prefer 3-5 years' experience in a non- profit organization(s) or in a closely related field such as marketing or communications. 
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Adobe Acrobat.  
  • Proficient in social media platform management
  • Ability to learn and navigate various online platforms used for relationship management, event management, project management, etc.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.

 Ideal Candidate Qualifications: The ideal candidate’s qualifications include:  

  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge or other customer relationship management (CRM) systems and procedures a plus
