Primary Purpose: Responsible for supervising pool activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the safety of pool visitors.
- Monitoring designated areas to recognize signs of danger.
- Warning swimmers regarding unsafe situations.
- Maintaining order in the swimming area.
- Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning.
- Performing first aid procedures.
- Administering CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
- Keeping the pool, or other areas clean and free of debris.
- Opening and closing the facility to visitors.
- Responsible for keeping current with all Certifications and Training required to comply with the Lifeguard Certification Program.
- Adheres to all pool safety standards, including safety procedures for adverse weather conditions.
- Maintains a collaborative work environment and works well with others.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent GED is required. Current Lifeguard Training certification and current CPR and First Aid certification are required – must provide proof of certification. Prior experience as a lifeguard is preferred. Must be a strong swimmer. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule on weekends. Excellent customer service skills. Must be able to withstand outdoor elements for long periods of time.

Working Conditions: Work duties performed indoors and outdoors, with frequent customer interaction. Work involves frequent walking; standing; lifting and carrying objects up to 30 lbs.; bending, stooping; may involve the operations of equipment in which manipulative skills and eye-hand coordination are important ingredients of safe and/or productive operations.
