Position Title: Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

 

St. John’s University Athletics is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach working with Olympic Sports (excluding Basketball). This is a part time, temporary/per diem position without benefits. The typical hours would be 6:30am – 11:30am and the salary range is $35-$40 per hour.

The position is responsible for implementing and monitoring comprehensive sports performance programs for teams assigned by the Director of Strength & Conditioning.

 

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

· Current CSCCa SCCC certification or NSCA CSCS

· One or more years of collegiate or professional sports performance experience

· Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification

· Ability to work effectively in a diverse workplace, with a variety of teams, coaches, sports medicine and support staff

· Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other Office programs as well as experience with strength and conditioning technology (Teambuildr, Vald Force Decks, VBT, etc.)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in exercise science from an accredited college or university

· Experience working simultaneously with a wide range of sports

· Experience collecting, tracking, and utilizing athlete data to enhance sports performance program

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

· Implement and monitor sports performance programs for assigned teams as well as individualized programming

· Communicate and collaborate with sport coaches, sports medicine staff and support staff to ensure the various needs of student-athletes on assigned teams are met

· Promote commitment, teamwork and ensure open lines of communication with student athletes

· Track and monitor assessment data and performance metrics relevant to each team’s programs

· Perform all duties in compliance with NCAA, Big East, and University rules and regulations

 

Additional Responsibilities:

· Assist with the collection and interpretation of performance metrics

· Assist with supervising Graduate Assistant and Intern staff

· Promote an open and welcoming high energy training environment

· Assist with cleaning and maintenance of facility

· Maintain current status on all required certifications
