Specific Job Title: Financial Systems Analyst
Reports to: Controller and Assistant Treasurer

Job Summary:
The Financial Systems Analyst oversees the administration, optimization, and continuous improvement of St. John’s University’s financial systems. Reporting to the Controller and Assistant Treasurer, this position works collaboratively with Information Technology and other administrative and academic units to ensure that the financial systems support the operational, reporting, and compliance needs of the University.

Essential Functions:

Lead the functional development, implementation, and administration of the University’s financial systems in coordination with outside consultants, Information Technology, and financial stakeholders within the University.

Manage maintenance and upgrades, including testing, to the University's financial systems.

Ensure data integrity and security across all financial platforms.

Serve as the primary liaison between Business Affairs, Information Technology, and academic and administrative units on financial systems and reporting needs.

Provide support to Business Affairs and other units by preparing reports and extracting and summarizing data to facilitate analyses and financial reporting.

Collaborate with Information Technology on system integrations and recommend solutions.

Develop and maintain business process documentation, including policies, procedures, and end-user training materials.

Provide training, documentation, and guidance to system users across the University.

Troubleshoot and resolve system issues efficiently while minimizing disruption to operations.

Leverage new and existing technology resources to drive operational efficiency and increase productivity.

Continuously assess opportunities for process improvement and automation in financial operations to support institutional effectiveness and enhance internal controls.

Work Environment:
The primary work environment is a typical office setting within the Office of Business Affairs.
Physical Demands:
Physical demands would be of a typical office environment, with employees required to sit for long periods of time at a computer. Communication is done by phone and email with various departments and outside vendors.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Longer hours may be required to meet deadlines, as necessary.
Required Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
-
3-5 years’ experience with Ellucian Banner Finance, or equivalent ERP financial modules.
-
Experience with budget management and financial planning software.
-
Proficiency in the use of reporting and analytic tools such as Argos, Power BI, or other similar tools.

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 365, with strength in Excel, as well as Teams and SharePoint/OneDrive for file management.

Knowledge of SQL.

Demonstrated experience with system implementation, upgrades, data migration, and end-user training.

Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Preferred Education and Experience:
-
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field; or related professional certification.

Knowledge of Banner integration with third-party systems, such as Concur and budget and planning software.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $90,000 - $95,000.
