Specific Job Title: PT Campus Recreation Operation Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Campus Recreation
Campus: Queens
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Campus Recreation, the Part-Time Campus Recreation Operation Coordinator will provide oversight and supervision of a team of student workers and graduate assistants on weekends and evenings. On evenings and weekends when the Director and Assistant Director are not present, this individual will be the point person for all Campus Recreation activities. These activities include the supervision of all spaces in the Fitness Center and Taffner Field House.
This position is expected to maintain employee accountability and assist other program areas (fitness, club sports, and intramurals) to maintain the safety, appearance, and cleanliness of the facility as well as enforce and maintain all facility policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:

Supervise and regularly check all areas of the facility on various rounds

Greet participants and provide excellent customer service to all individuals, including faculty, staff, and students

Knowledge and ability to carry out any Facility and Emergency Action Plan for all members in the facility

Be able to uphold, enforce, and clearly communicate facility rules and regulations, apply safe practices, and hold users accountable

Possess knowledge of all Campus Recreation employee expectations and report and communicate positive and negative observations to appropriate supervisors (examples include shift no call-no shows and tardiness, going above and beyond with a member, covering coworkers’ shifts, or inappropriate use of electronic devices)

Maintain a safe, clean, and presentable atmosphere in all parts of the facility for all members

Supervise and assist with all events occurring in both facilities

Adhere to regular attendance and timeliness of assigned shifts

Positively represent Campus Recreation and St. John’s University

Perform other duties as assigned

When appropriate, supervises graduate assistants and student workers.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office environment. This position requires the use of standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, move about, sit, carry work and use controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, and communicate. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This position is part-time and requires evening and weekend hours.
Travel:
Travel is primarily local and may include visits to the other NY campuses
Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field

Certifications: First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary range for this position is $26.75 - $30.00. St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
