Title: Graduate Admission Counselor
Reports to: Director of Graduate Admission

Job Summary:
The Graduate Admission counselor is responsible for recruiting and communicating with graduate students, moving them through the application funnel. Working under the umbrella of Enrollment Management, the Counselor will work on the recruitment and admission of Graduate students by providing strategic ideas on how to best increase enrollment.
Essential Functions:

Works in the development in describing program opportunities to prospective students and coordinate recruitment events

Record feedback about events for future assessment

Attend college fairs and host information sessions

Emphasize recruitment strategies for all Graduate Programs to ensure enrollment goals are met

Communicate with student applicants regarding the status of their application and respond to inquiries in a pro-active manner which will result in the enrollment of the student

Analyze data analytics to ensure that communication initiatives are successful

Supports the admission department at events, including occasional evening and weekend events

Assist with promotional materials, social media, and communications to all prospective students

Perform other duties as assigned
Competencies:
The ideal candidate must be willing to travel, work evenings and weekends and juggle multiple tasks. The ideal candidate must also work well individually and as part of a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as a high energy level are essential.

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.

A valid driver license is required.

Previous admission experience is preferred.

Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.

Understanding of discretion related to handling confidential information is required.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Technolutions Slate, and Ellucian Banner is preferred.

Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities with short notice and changing deadlines is preferred.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; move about; sit; to carry work and use controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the employee include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 8:30am-3:00pm. Occasional early morning, night, and weekend hours required for recruitment events.
Travel:
Travel may be both domestic and international, and overnight travel may be required.
Required Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
Preferred Education and Experience:

Prior admission experience is preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
A valid driver’s license is required.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $64,350. St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
