Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Assistive Technology Testing Specialist, to join our Student Accessibility Services Office. This multifaceted role is essential in providing comprehensive support to students with disabilities, ensuring they have equal access to educational materials, exams, and classroom experiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in assistive technologies, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. In addition, ATTS is responsible for proctoring student midterms and final exams. They play an integral role in ensuring the efficient administration of exams and are expected to act in a calm, professional manner at all times. Final exams take place in May and December (see below for the next available exam dates). Exams are not held on weekends. Proctors must be available to work most of the days when exams are offered.
Job Responsibilities

Oversee production of alternate media (E-text, Kurzweil, large print, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Zoom Text, audio files, etc.), enabling students with visual disabilities access to instructional materials

Prepare and submit requests to publishers and authors for permission to adapt copy-written materials

Catalog materials and information and maintain a database of inventory; maintain inventory records of all source materials borrowed and ensure timely return

Serve as the primary contact person on campus as it relates to alternate media for students with disabilities

Supervise individuals and classrooms according to strict guidelines, in order to maintain the integrity of exams.

Clearly articulate test-related information including instructions to groups.

Ensure students comply with the Honor Code and set test instructions throughout the exam.

Assist in passing out, collecting, and securing testing and related materials.

May serve as a relief (supervising the room while the active proctor is on a break) for active proctors.

Read or Scribe for students with print disabilities

Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Proctoring for the midterm and final exams may occur at different times, and evening availability is required. Midterms March 10-18, 2025 and Finals May 8-14, 2025
The regular shifts are as follows:
- Morning Shift: 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM
- Afternoon Shift: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
These shifts are from Monday to Friday, with the end times being approximate.
Regular Hours
20 hours a week when Fall and Spring semesters are in session
Job Qualifications
An associate degree from an accredited institution of higher education, and two years of related work experience, OR Education and/or work experience that is equivalent to the above.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary for this position is $20 per hour. This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
