Division/Department Information: The Department Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at St. John's University, located in New York City, is seeking applicants for a one-year full-time contract faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank, with the possibility of renewal.  The Department has 38 faculty with research interests in medicinal chemistry, toxicology, pharmacology, and industrial pharmacy/pharmaceutics. The Department offers both the MS and Ph.D. degrees. Modern instrumentation and AAALAC-accredited facilities are available. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is eager to attract candidates that represent the rich diversity of the students and communities we are proud to serve in the New York Metropolitan area.

 

Responsibilities: The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. John’s University, NY invites applications for a contract faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences starting January 2023. An earned Ph.D. in pharmacology/anatomy physiology or a related field is required and post-doctoral experience is preferred. Faculty member hired for this position will have teaching responsibilities and will have the expertise to teach Pharmacology, Anatomy & Physiology and other biomedical courses to support the new BS Nursing program, new Doctor of Physical Therapy program, Pharm.D. program, B.S. Biomedical Sciences, BS Toxicology, BS Clinical Laboratory Science, and MS Physician Assistant programs.

Qualifications

An earned Ph.D. in pharmacology/anatomy physiology or a related field is required and post-doctoral experience is preferred. Teaching and/or research-based teaching experience at the university level is required. Preference will be given to candidates who can support the growth of undergraduate and graduate programs. Candidates should be familiar with technology-supported learning pedagogy, and be able to integrate technology into teaching. Candidates must show evidence of teaching excellence, professional and scholarly activity, student engagement and a strong commitment to service.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $90,000 - $111,000.  St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.   

 

This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
