College Housing Specialist
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time, 52 weeks. Employee is required to live within the College housing provided.
 
CLASSIFICATION: Career Plan
 
ANNUAL SALARY: $45,000-$48,000 based on skills, qualifications, and experience. Includes college housing.
 
FLSA STATUS: Salary/Exempt
 
HOURS: Minimum 37.5 hours per week, hours vary and may include evenings and additional weekend hours as determined by the college.

  • Up to thirty-eight (38) paid time off days annually (prorated based on hire date).

JOB SUMMARY: The College Housing Specialist works collaboratively with the College Housing Manager to help manage daily housing operations and resident needs.  Shared office space will be provided on campus. Required to serve on-call 24-hour hours on a rotating basis with other assigned college housing staff.  The goal is to maximize housing revenue and facilitate efficient, effective processes for all residents.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct hourly interior and exterior rounds of college housing on Friday and Saturday late nights/early mornings, taking primary responsibility for college operational and resident needs during this time.
  • Work collaboratively with the College Housing Manager to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy learning and living environment while ensuring compliance with college, housing, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a point of contact on matters related to college housing (on-call 24/7 coverage is shared with other assigned housing staff).
  • Provide advising support and guidance for all housing students as needed.
  • Participate in investigations related to suspected housing violations.
  • Responsible for the coordination and oversight of campus-wide intramural sports event offerings.
  • Responsible for simple housekeeping and additional trash removal within the housing kitchen and common area to supplement daily cleaning by physical plant staff as needed.
  • Create, facilitate, and provide support related to student housing events to boost engagement and camaraderie as assigned. 
  • Represent SC4 college housing to potential residents, parents, and/or group inquiries; conduct tours of housing facilities as needed.
  • Oversee the opening and closing of college housing at the beginning and end of each academic year in collaboration with the College Housing Manager.
  • Demonstrate leadership in support of a multicultural environment, modeling a positive and professional demeanor while acting as an ambassador for the College.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to resident students and staff, including compliance with FERPA and HIPAA.
  • Facilitate and work toward the resolution of student concerns regarding living conditions, roommates, and other related matters.  May require collaboration with other College departments/administrators.
  • Report and refer any housing facilities and repair needs to the head of the Physical Plant  
  • Notify and work with the physical plant and campus patrol staff regarding repairs and safety relating to housing facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the College Housing Manager.
 
SUPERVISION GIVEN: None.
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Minimum of an associate’s degree in management, general business, education, social work, psychology, or related field. Minimum of 2 years related college/university or related field management of housing experience required.

  • Experience managing people and processes, as well as the ability to collaborate with others toward a common goal.
  • Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office 365, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Drive applications, and Internet applications are strongly preferred.
