Systems Administrator
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time, 52 weeks
CLASSIFICATION: Career Plan
ANNUAL SALARY: $57,000 - $60,000 based on skills, qualifications, and experience
FLSA STATUS: Salary/Exempt
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week. Work includes evening and weekend hours as determined by the college.

JOB SUMMARY: The Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting and maintaining SC4’s technical systems, including the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), WordPress website, Slate Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, and library technical services. This position collaborates with IT and academic staff to ensure the reliable operation, integration, and improvement of institutional systems while contributing to strategic IT initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and support library technical systems, including databases, digital collections, ILS, and discovery tools, collaborating with staff to enhance user experience and efficiency.
- Support the configuration, integration, and development of the Slate CRM system.
- Manage and troubleshoot system integrations with the Canvas LMS, including third-party tools and plugins.
- Assist in the technical management and upkeep of the WordPress website.
- Serve as a technical escalation point for the Helpdesk.
- Work closely with IT leadership to identify, plan, and implement technical systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and execute projects related to academic and administrative technology.
- Provide input on system automation opportunities to improve workflows and efficiency.
- Monitor and maintain the security and performance of assigned systems, implementing updates and patches as needed.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities through regular audits and security reviews.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and workflows.
- Provide training and technical support to staff, faculty, and end-users.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in system administration and academic IT.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Chief Technology/Senior Information Security Advisor.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Willing to consider candidates in process of obtaining a bachelor’s degree. One year of related work experience preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Two years of experience supporting technical systems, including troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance.
- Basic understanding of system security practices, backups, and updates.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work well within a team.
- Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
- Available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in higher education
- Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following: Canvas LMS, WordPress, Colleague, or Slate CRM.
- Knowledge of library technologies, including databases, integrated library systems (ILS), and discovery tools.
- Experience managing cloud-based systems, such as Microsoft 365 or Azure.
- Familiarity with automation tools and techniques for improving IT workflows.
- Experience supporting academic or library IT environments.
- Proven ability to document processes and train end-users effectively.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in academic IT and system administration.
