POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a Construction Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) for a federal construction project in El Paso, TX.
What you’ll do:
- Attend pre-work meetings and produce job-specific APP and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), in accordance with Company’s Safety and Health Program.
- Work as member of the project team, including sub contractors, to ensure implementation and continuous monitoring and enforcement of the provisions of the project APP and AHAs.
- Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with all applicable OSHA and USACE requirements and regulations, the US Army Corps. of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual EM 385-1-1, and other applicable regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections, recording all violations and noting what remediation needs to occur to keep the project moving safely.
- Prepare comprehensive reports of safety inspections and complete all safety related documentation and paperwork.
- Coordinate response to on-site emergencies, and interface with off-site and on-site emergency response entities.
- Conduct safety trainings, including new employee orientations or refresher trainings, and on-the-spot training to all personnel.
- Work with management team to develop new safety policies, refine existing policies, and modify design requirements and draft construction-related specifications.
- Conduct and participate in Government preparatory meetings, safety inspections and project meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to be successful:
- 5 years of Federal Construction Safety Management
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification (within past 5 years)
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED Training
- Minimum 8 hour certification on EM 385 1.1
- Must be able to pass DOD security clearance for base access
- High School Diploma; B.S. in Safety Management preferred
- Ability to train personnel in fall protection, excavation, shoring, scaffolding, and/or confined space preferred
- CHST certification preferred (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge working with Excel, Word and PDF software.
