The Department of Human and Environmental Health and Policy in the College of Arts and Sciences at Shenandoah University is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our faculty as an assistant professor in our environmental studies and conservation science and management programs (B.S. in Environmental Studies; B.S. in Conservation Science and Management; minor in Environmental Studies). Courses may include lectures, labs, and seminars that cover topics in environmental science and studies, forestry, wildlife management and geographic information systems (GIS).

Required Skills

A doctoral degree in environmental science, studies, biology/ecology, or a closely related terminal degree by the start of the Fall 2026 semester.

Demonstrates excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly and professional activities, and experience teaching undergraduate courses.


Required Experience

The Environmental Studies Program at Shenandoah University seeks a dedicated, collegial faculty member to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about environmental problems and solutions, committed to community engagement, student success, and ready to provide hands-on, immersive learning experiences for all students. We are particularly interested in candidates eager to collaborate across disciplines to develop upper-division courses and undergraduate learning and research opportunities in the broad fields of environmental science, studies, and wildlife management. Examples include, but are not limited to, wildlife conservation and management, human/wildlife interactions, geographic information systems (GIS), environmental/natural engineering, and waste management. We especially encourage bilingual candidates to apply.
