Shenandoah University’s Office of Institutional Technology is accepting applications for an Academic Classroom Computing Support I. This is a full-time, benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.
Job Description: Support Specialist I:
The AVS team manages the campus classroom audiovisual (AV) systems and portable AV systems used for live events and webinars. The Classroom Support Specialist 1 is tasked to resolve issues with classroom technology, interact with faculty, assist with setting up for Zoom meetings, and set up portable AV equipment.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Provide level 1 tech support for classroom technology
- Perform classroom systems checks regularly to ensure functionality
- Collaborate with AVS team to discuss problems and determine preventive measures
- Set up portable audiovisual systems for live events as needed
- Assist with setup and monitoring of audio and video of live events
- Possess a basic understanding of Zoom platform, settings, and issues
- Have a general knowledge of basic computer and IP Networking
- 35 hr week, Monday - Friday (no remote work), able to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
Required Skills
The ideal candidate will be energetic, have a positive personality, and will be detailed, organized, and professional. The candidate should be a quick learner and have a desire to become efficient in troubleshooting and repairing AV systems.
Required Experience
The candidate should have a basic knowledge of audiovisual terms and basic operation of projectors, cameras, microphones, and connecting devices for presentations.
