Shenandoah Conservatory is accepting applications for an Auxiliary Adjunct in Music Literature (Musicology). This position is located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.
Shenandoah Conservatory seeks a dynamic and collaborative musicologist to join the Conservatory Academics Division teaching in the area of music literature. The chosen candidate will further strengthen Shenandoah Conservatory's profile and reputation as a premiere and inclusive place of study where students from diverse backgrounds develop into arts practitioners. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to create and maintain a positive working environment and a passion for teaching and mentoring students within a rigorous, conservatory program. This is an Auxiliary Adjunct, 9-month faculty position with pro-rated benefits. Appointment begins August 25, 2025.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music history with a preferred area of expertise in popular music traditions. An additional teaching assignment may include a course on indigenous music traditions and graduate seminars in an area of expertise. There is also the potential to advise undergraduate and graduate research projects if interested. The candidate will teach a minimum of three courses per semester.

Required Education, Experience and Skills:
The applicant should hold a Ph.D. (ABD accepted) in musicology. The successful candidate will possess the following: a demonstrated record of excellence in collegiate level teaching, with proven experience and expertise in undergraduate education; a marked interest in collaborating with a dynamic and diverse faculty and contributing to a performance-based and scholarly conservatory environment.
