Shenandoah University’s College of Arts and Sciences is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of English. This is a full-time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.

The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a dynamic and collaborative individual to join our faculty as an assistant professor to teach a broad range of courses, from introductory to upper- division courses in area of specialization (preference for Environmental Studies, Gender Studies, LatinX/e Studies, Indigenous Studies, Global Black Studies/Africana Studies). We are specifically interested in finding a candidate who is committed to collaborating across disciplines and departments, and who will contribute to Shenandoah University’s global initiatives. Other expectations include advising, scholarship, and service. An on-campus presence is required. 

Required Skills

Education: 

  • Ph.D. in English Literature or Global Studies equivalent with a concentration in LatinX/e Studies, Indigenous Studies, or Global Black Studies/Africana Studies. Additional expertise in Gender and Queer Studies or Environmental Studies
