The Department of Human and Environmental Health and Policy in the College of Arts and Sciences at Shenandoah University is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our faculty as an assistant professor in our environmental sustainability studies and conservation science and management programs (B.A. in Environmental Sustainability Studies; B.S. in Conservation Science and Management; minor in Environmental Studies) located on our main campus in Winchester, VA. Courses may include lectures, labs, and seminars that cover topics in environmental science and studies, environmental geology, geography, and geographic information systems.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about environmental problems and solutions, committed to community engagement, student success, and ready to provide hands-on, immersive learning experiences for all students. We are particularly interested in candidates who are eager to collaborate across disciplines to develop upper division courses and undergraduate learning and research opportunities within the broad field of environmental science, studies, and sustainability. Examples include, but are not limited to: alternative energies, environmental justice, environmental psychology, sustainable development and planning, environmental/natural engineering and technology, waste management, environmental advocacy, climate law and policy. Bilingual candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
Required Skills
- A doctoral degree in environmental science, studies, sustainability or a closely related terminal degree by the start of the Fall 2025 semester.
- Demonstrates excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly and professional activities, and experience teaching undergraduate courses.
