Shenandoah University is seeking a Head Coach for Men’s & Women’s Volleyball to develop and maintain a competitive NCAA Division III volleyball program while supporting the academic and personal growth of student-athletes. This position requires adherence to all Shenandoah University, ODAC, and NCAA rules and regulations. This is a full-time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee all aspects of Shenandoah University's Division III Men’s & Women’s Volleyball program.
- Collaborate with the Director of Athletics to define and achieve annual enrollment and roster management goals.
- Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes in compliance with university, ODAC, and NCAA standards.
- Develop and implement strategies to monitor student-athletes' academic progress and athletic performance
- Plan, organize, and execute in-season and out-of-season practices and training sessions.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of NCAA Division III, ODAC, and university rules, ensuring full program compliance.
- Define roles and responsibilities for assistant coaches and staff within the program.
- Lead athletic fundraising initiatives in collaboration with the university’s Advancement Office and Athletics Department.
- Organize camps and clinics to increase community engagement and promote volleyball at Shenandoah University.
- Plan all team travel, including transportation, accommodations, and meal arrangements.
- Manage the volleyball program’s budget, including the procurement of uniforms and equipment.
- Oversee and coordinate practice facility usage for the program.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend department and conference meetings, as required.
- Assist with long-term planning for the volleyball program’s development and success.
- Participate in public relations and speaking engagements to promote Shenandoah University Athletics.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Required Skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Previous collegiate coaching and recruiting experience required. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with NCAA Division III philosophy, recruitment practices, and rules and regulations.
- Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, organizational abilities, and proficiency in managing budgets.
- Other: Must have a valid driver’s license and willingness to work nights and weekends.
