Seasonal Maintenance Manager, Yellowstone National Park

This is a seasonal position from April into November, with possible occasional duties as necessary through the winter months.  Housing is available at Lake Village during the summer season, but no housing is available during the winter months.

 

 

General Duties And Responsibilities – Maintenance Manager

General duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Support of and participation in educational and quality improvement processes as it relates to facilities, maintenance and janitorial duties.
  • Support and cooperate with the Director of Operations to ensure optimal clinic operation and further STGI's organizational goals.
  • Maintain consistent performance and behavior when faced with opposition, pressure, and/or stressful conditions.
  • Adapt easily to change, sees the merits of differing positions, and ability to adapt their own positions and strategies in response to new information or changes in a situation.
  • Demonstrates desire to set and meet challenging objectives, to find better or more efficient ways to do things, and to compete against a self-defined standard of excellence.
  • Develops spring opening SOP to bring all residences up to operational status. 
  • Uses fall close down procedures as outlined in the procedure manual in conjunction with NPS. 
  • Undertakes all projects, maintenance duties and cleaning duties in a safe and efficient manner ensuring all safety regulations are met, to include OSHA. 
  • Spring snow removal as dictated by conditions using snow blower and meeting safety requirements as outlined by OSHA.  
  • Organizes winter roof snow removal as dictated by snow levels using approved safety devises and procedures as outlined by OSHA. 
  • Source, hire and directly supervise contracted seasonal maintenance crews (2-6) for start-up / close down operations and large maintenance projects, leading by example and participating in all aspects of work.

 

Day to Day Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Recognizes and fixes broken items as such as soap dispensers, leaking faucets, burned out light bulbs.
  • Develops a plan to repair larger items and discusses with Director of Operations if financial impact. 
  • Recognizes hazardous wiring or plumbing and develops plan to upgrade in conjunction with the Director of Operations. 
  • Paint facilities as needed to maintain a fresh and clean appearance and according to cyclic maintenance plan.
  • Become proficient in the close down of clinics and facilities as needed to winterize and protect functionality.
  • Uses close down resource document to guide process and modifies document as needed to reflect current practice.
  • Grounds maintenance to include snow removal, leaf and pine needle removal, weed remediation. 
  • Maintains boiler on an ongoing and preventative basis. 
  • Maintains security of buildings and residences while opening and closing. Instructs staff on appropriate procedures.

 

Large or Contracted Maintenance Project Responsibilities

  • Develops and or research plans to upgrade facilities as standards, codes, functionality dictates.
  • Develops contacts to get bids to execute projects that are needed.
  • Develops expertise as feasible to repair and finish work in basic carpentry. 
  • Oversees and assures quality of work with contract workers within the scope of the project they are completing. 
  • Works with NPS staff in completing projects on STGI facilities as expected in preliminary project planning.
