Where you come in:

 

The H&N Coordinator will be tasked with learning about the 3 approaches and will become a key focal point for adapting them to the local contexts and for clarifying guidance and standards (supported closely by the Regional H&N Advisor). The coordinator will also support some M&E activities, such as carrying out quality monitoring, supportive supervision and coaching for health workers and engage un debrief/reflection with TAS to infirm program adaptation.

The H&N Coordinator reports directly to the Helti Pikinini, Helti Komuniti project Manager. 

 

You will make an impact by:

 

Project Implementation & Monitoring

  • Plan and track program activities with the team using PMM tools
  • Support community onboarding and stakeholder engagement
  • Monitor project progress, resolve implementation issues early
  • Integrate MEAL practices into activities and documentation
  • Coach partners and staff on PD/Hearth, SBCC, and MGAD approaches
  • Ensure quality, gender equity, disability, and social inclusion standards
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting and evaluations
  • Represent the project at health events and national platforms

 

PD/Hearth Coordination

  • Train and guide Community Mobilisers on PD/Hearth methods
  • Lead assessments and hearth session planning with communities
  • Ensure referrals for malnutrition cases and routine data reviews
  • Coordinate technical support with Health & Nutrition Advisor

 

SBCC Activities

  • Support design of the SBCC package and lead implementation
  • Train health workers and volunteers on SBCC tools and messages
  • Coach Community Mobilisers and review monitoring data regularly

 

MGAD Support

  • Oversee pilot implementation with health workers and VSPD
  • Facilitate early child intervention training and technical support
  • Capture lessons learned and advocate for MGAD integration

 

Health, Safety & Risk

  • Promote safe work practices, report hazards, and apply mitigation
  • Participate in health and safety awareness and follow procedures

 

Child Safeguarding

  • Ensure a child-safe environment and follow protection protocols
  • Act with integrity in all child-related interactions
  • Report and respond to safeguarding concerns as per policy

This role requires:

 

Essential knowledge or experience

 

·         A background in health or nutrition programs (nutrition specific experience is preferred)

·         Experience working with the health department and managing stakeholder relationships

·         Experience in leading teams and building their capacity

·         Previous experience with working to implementation plans or project management

·         A good level of oral and written English, with the ability to write and edit basic reports

·         Experience in supporting monitoring, data collection and basic data analysis in excel

  •      Willing and able to travel within Shefa and Sanma to support field teams
  •       Proficiency in Bislama  

·         Experience using MS Office, especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel

·         Past experience in leading trainings is desirable

 

Required qualifications 

 

·         A degree in health or nutrition related fields, such as nursing or public health.
