Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and their families? Our ‘It Takes a Village’ program provides wraparound support to newly arrived migrant and refugee women and children, to help them settle into the Perth community. We’re looking for a casual Child Development Assistant to assist us in our supported playgroups for children aged 0-5 years of age.

A place to make a difference: 

In this casual position based in the City of Stirling, you’ll work with migrant and refugee women and their children aged 0 to 5 years of age who attend our ‘It Takes a Village’ playgroup. You’ll work closely with our Child Development Specialist, Family Support Specialist and Life Skills Facilitator.

 

You will make a difference by:

  • Warmly greeting mothers and children arriving to playgroup and engaging them throughout playgroup sessions to ensure they are supported
  • Engaging and supporting mothers in positive parent-child interactions
  • Supporting newly arrived mothers to develop skills to support integration and independence within community
  • Empowering women and their children to build positive relationships with other women in playgroup and in community

You understand the settlement needs of families, children’s development, parenting, impact of trauma on children and their development.
