USW Welder 1st/2nd Class

PER SOCCo Policy DND-HR-PRO-00001: Internal employees must be in current position for (1) year or greater to be eligible to apply.

THIS POSITION WILL BE REPRESENTED AS PART OF A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT UNIT.

Responsibility:

With minimum supervision performs all types of welding required for installation, assembly and maintenance. Must work to specifications and procedures as required. Assists Maintenance Mechanics where needed as pertains to welding. Must take necessary precautions as pertains to welding and shop equipment.

General Summary:

Does either ARC or Acetylene Welding. Must be in good physical condition. Much of work is performed from cramped and unusual positions.

Job Conditions:

Works in all plant facilities, inside or outside. Is subjected to dirt, grease and soot. May work in excessively hot or cold areas at times. Works around moving equipment, near electric lines. May be exposed to burns from welding sparks and contact with welded material. Wears coveralls and uses equipment required for projection against the normal hazards encounters in welding.

Required Contingencies:

·         Pre-Employment Physical (office or field work)

·         Drug Screen

·         The ability to obtain/maintain "L" or "Q" Clearance one year from hire date

·         Background Check

·         Any site required training

Required Experience

Education Experience Required:

Minimum four years welding experience in both ARC and Acetylene. Major portion of which would be pipe welding. Must have valid state driver's license and be able to operate standard and automatic vehicles.
