THIS POSITION IS ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT SOUTHERN OHIO CLEANUP COMPANY LLC EMPLOYEES AND PERSONNEL ACTIVELY WORKING AT THE PORTS SITE.

PER SOCCo Policy DND-HR-PRO-00001: Internal employees must be in current position for (1) year or greater to be eligible to apply.

THIS POSITION WILL BE REPRESENTED AS PART OF A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT UNIT.

Position Overview

Performs a variety of duties under direction of an On-The-Job Training instructor in areas such as the following: Fluorine generation, feed vaporization, uranium recovery, miscellaneous chemical recovery, effluent treatment and chemical cleaning, decontamination of large and small equipment in both cleaning building and in process areas as required. In doing so uses automatic equipment but must be relied upon to function in a reliable manner in cases of equipment failure. Operates other tools and equipment necessart to the Operators primary duties. Performs arithmetical calculations relative to the above processes. In under direct supervision of the technical trainer while in classroom or the shift supervisor while On-the-Job training assignment. Chemical Operators in Training function in a variety of duties. Should be in good physical condition as much of the work involves walking, standing, and climbing. 

Working Conditions

*Class sessions are conducted under good conditions. On-the-job training involves exposure to hazardous/toxic chemicals, chemical fumes, radiological hazards, heat, high humidity, and moving equipment. Must wear protective equipment and clothing in accordance with prescribed regulations. May work from ladders, scaffolds, or other heights. May work in closely confined areas such as inside tanks, piping, etc. 

Most work is of moderate physical nature. Considerable walking, standing, and climbing is involved. Some heavy lifting is required at infrequent intervals.

·         The ability to obtain/maintain "L" or "Q" Clearance, or HSPD12 Uncleared badge one year from hire date

·         Background Check

·         Any site required training

Minimum Requirements

Eligible bidders who must maintain progress in MMES Operations Training Program, and have completed the pre-employment course work at an accredited college or universirt with a "C-" grade or above for each course in the subject matter areas Fundamental Physics, Fundamental Chemistry, Electro Mech. Concepts (suitable equivalent AC/DC Circuits), Applied Physics (suitable equivalent Advanced Physics), Basic Algebra (suitable equivalent Calculus). Must have valid State drivers' license and be able to operate standard and automatic transmission vehicles. May require a commercial drivers' license with necessary endorsements.
