USW HVAC Mechanic
PER D&D Policy D&D-HR-PRO-00001: Internal employees must be in current position for (1) year or greater to be eligible to apply.
In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, responsible for calibrating, installing, and trouble-shooting on HVAC instrument systems. Employees classified as HV AC Mechanic classification will trouble-shoot, repair and maintain window air-conditioning units, crane air conditioning units to the load side of the last disconnect and controls, water coolers, walk in coolers, chillers, chiller pumps, condenser control valves, refrigerators, ice machines, self-contained heat pumps and system that contain Freon, SRI or other refrigerant, including cold recovery and cold traps.
The HV AC Mechanic classification will maintain air conditioning and refrigeration units. This included installation, removal and repair of these units (exceptions are so noted). This work will include PM, evaporator and condenser cleaning; replacement of belts, motors, filters contained in these units and other general maintenance.
The Maintenance Mechanic classification will install, remove and replace the crane NC units.
The HVAC Mechanic classification will change filters in those systems that provide cooling. They will maintain coils with Freon/SRI or other refrigerant. They will maintain bearings, belts, filters, PM's and other maintenance on self contained units and rolatron filters.
The Electrician/Maintenance Mechanic classification(s) will maintain coils which contain water or steam, roof fans, ventilation systems, and maintenance related to air handlers including motors and piping on outside unit as well as ventilation hood filters.
The HV AC Mechanic classification will maintain the outside unit and the stand alone units contained in the building. This work will include maintenance of belts, filters, motors and other general maintenance for these units.
The Electrician/Maintenance Mechanic classification(s) will maintain belts, bearings, filters, piping boiler, hot water coils from boiler and hot water pumps.
CONDITIONS OF WORK – AREAS WORKED IN:
Works in all areas of plant.
Must be able to wear company-provided respiratory and other personal protective equipment when required.

Required Experience
Minimum Requirements:
HS Diploma/GED
Valid Drivers License
Universal Certification under EPA 608
Candidate must possess a minimum of five (5) documented years of HV AC related experience or as an equivalent, possess a Vocational School HV AC Certification plus two (2) years of HV AC related experience. Related experience must include electrical trouble-shooting and working from schematics. Applicants must have successfully passed and received a Universal Certification under EPA 608.All candidates must have a valid state driver's license and be able to operate both automatic and standard transmission vehicles. All candidates must be a U. S. Citizen.
