Production Process Operator in Training
PER SOCCo Policy DND-HR-PRO-00001: Internal employees must be in current position for (1) year or greater to be eligible to apply.
THIS POSITION WILL BE REPRESENTED AS PART OF A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT UNIT.
Position Overview:
Eligible Bidders must maintain process in MMES Operations Training Program and have completed the pre-employment coursework at an accredited college or university with a "c-" grade or above for each course in the subject matter areas of: Fundamental physics, fundamental Chemistry Electromechanical Concepts, applied physics, Basic Algebra. Must have a valid state drivers' license and be able to operate standard and automatic transmission vehicles. May require a commercial drivers' license with all necessary endorsements.
Works under minimum supervision and performs both manual, mechanical and data collection and interpretation. Must act and react in various situations to mitigate damage to equipment, personnel safety or environmental insults. Responsible for safe, efficient operation of the cascade process equipment and associated auxiliary equipment, routine data collection and surveillance of workstations.
Required Contingencies:

· The ability to obtain/maintain "L" or "Q" Clearance one year from hire date

Required Skills
- May be required to instruct and/or train lesser qualified individuals.
- Must have ability to lift 45 lbs. and able to do extensive walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.
- Must have the ability but not limited to, balancing, kneeling, reaching, full use of both arms and hands, bending, crawling, crouching, sitting, stooping, seeing-color vision, seeing-depth perception, working at high and low speeds, and normal vision/hearing.
- Must be able to work in an environment that is subject to, but not limited to, grease, moving objects, high places, mechanical hazards, acids, dry/hot/cold/noisy environment, sudden temperature changes, fumes, gases, vapors, exposure to burns, coolants, solvents, radioactive material and confined spaces.
- Must be able to work 12-hr Rotating Shifts.
- Must be able to wear Company provided respiratory and other personal protective equipment when required. .
- Must have valid driver’s license and able to operate both standard and automatic transmission vehicles
- Must possess a DOE “L” clearance or the ability to obtain an “L” clearance
Required Experience
Minimum Requirements:
Must have completed Fundamental Physics, Fundamental Chemistry, Electro-Mechanical Concepts (suitable equivalent AC/DC circuits), Applied Physics (suitable equivalent Advanced Physics) and Basic Algebra (suitable equivalent Calculus) or relevant/ equivalent coursework. While on On-the-Job training assignment, under general supervision of the shift supervisor and instruction of qualified operators will perform duties assigned and maintain satisfactory progress with on-the-job training.
