POSITION SUMMARY
Servtech, a Roeslein Company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to join our team in the energy, mining, industrial power markets, and Integrated bio-energy solutions. This individual must desire to perform quality work safely, be detail-oriented, and have superior customer focus. This individual must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Mechanical Engineer I assists in the design and development of mechanical and structural systems and components. They perform basic engineering calculations, create 3D models, and troubleshoot issues. These tasks will help the Mechanical Engineer I to gain practical experience in project management under the guidance of the Engineering Manager and Project Managers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must have the ability to revise the process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) for facility mechanical systems.
- Must maintain an up-to-date Bill of Materials for active projects
- Learn Servtech’s practices for proper and most efficient pumping equipment selection.
- Assisting with the design of process piping systems including routing, sizing, materials selection, and pipe supports.
- Conducting basic structural calculations using FEA analysis to ensure structural integrity and economical solution for different types of buildings and skids.
- Using SolidWorks to ensure general arrangement accuracy according to the Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
- Utilizing SolidWorks to develop 3D CAD sketches and layouts for system design modifications/improvements and assisting in the creation of drawing packages.
- Reviewing mechanical manufacturing drawings for accuracy and compliance with project design.
- Assisting in preparing bid documents and developing project proposals.
- Quoting and purchasing mechanical process systems and support equipment.
- Maintaining relationships with multiple engineering equipment vendors.
- Assisting in communication with clients regarding project specifications and addressing technical questions.
- Coordinating with the manufacturing shop concerning all fabricated, pre-assembled, and manufactured system designs.
- Coordinate with Roeslein fabrication facilities on all designs of fabricated, pre-assembled, and unitized.
- Travel domestically and internationally ranging from 10-30% per year; to assist in installing and startup process systems.
- Must follow training and company procedures.
- Must be a leader who represents the organization and can liaise with our customers, adhere to company standards, and resolve issues with urgency and professionalism.
- Must follow good housekeeping practices.

SKILL / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or technical engineering, math, or science is required.
- Zero (0) - Two (2) years of experience in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- EIT registration is preferred.
- Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs are required.
- SolidWorks and drafting experience beyond a basic level is preferred.
- Experience developing drawings for fabrication of piping systems is preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience are strongly preferred.
- Experience with selection and specification of pumps, support equipment and/or HVAC equipment is preferred.
- Knowledge of typical piping and piping component materials and appropriate applications is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
- Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage time and efforts towards completing designs on time and within budgets is required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required.
- Ability to work flexible hours with some weekend and holiday work required.
- Exercises judgement on major portions of work and in making decisions and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an office and an uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. Must be able to travel to jobsites both domestically and internationally; living accommodations in some foreign assignments may not meet expected U.S. standards. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will, regularly, be required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear; and work in a consistent state of alertness and in a safe manner. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly is required.
