Sign On and Relocation Bonus Available 

This position is eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus; 50% paid after 30 days and 50% paid after 6 months of employment.

In addition, candidates relocating from more than 50 miles from Red Bud, IL facility are eligible for a $5,000 relocation bonus to help cover moving expenses. Employees must remain employed for 12 months to retain the relocation bonus.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Pipe Shop Team Leader, this experienced position will perform pipe welding utilizing multiple process and materials and have the ability to perform pipe fitting for multiple welders on  all of our modular systems. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consistently weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys using multiple processes and procedures in various positions.
  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits including, but not limited to: working at heights, confined space, overhead crane, etc.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using combination squares, two hole pins, wrap arounds, center finders and tape measures.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Consistently pass internal destructive (bend) and non-destructive (x-ray, etc) examinations of RMD, GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW welds.
  • Lead a team of 1-3 team members on a project or job.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with the attendance policy
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide personal tools according to the department tool list.
  • Perform set-up, material handling duties, and minor general maintenance.
  • Responsible for area housekeeping.
  • Participate in the processes of continuous improvement including efforts to meet company smart goals.
  • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an uncontrolled atmosphere.  Exposure to harsh conditions—such as:  dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures.  Potential exposure to jobsites both domestically and internationally; living accommodations in some foreign assignments may not meet expected U.S. standards. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.   While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.  Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis is required.  Must be able to stand/walk 90% of the time and sit 10% of the time.

 

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILL/ ABILITY/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. is strongly preferred.
  • Certification or degree in welding from a technical school program strongly preferred.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of GTAW pipe welding experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to pass Roeslein’s 6G GTAW visual and bend certification is required.
  • Must be able to consistently execute high quality RMD, GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW welds.
  • Must be able to consistently execute other weld processes such as: PWHT, GTAW/FCAW, and other combination welds.
  • Advanced ability to read blue prints, ISO’s and other technical documents is required.
  • Meets all Pipe Welder II requirements on a consistent basis.
  • Strong math skills are required.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required.
  • High level of energy and motivation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including, but not limited to, frequent and mandatory overtime and weekends are required.
  • Must possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management, in a team environment.
