Position Summary
The Piping Designer I will work closely with discipline leads to support a variety of pipe design tasks required to complete the project scope of work. This role is responsible for producing quality designs while continuing to develop technical skills through mentoring and supervision. Candidates should demonstrate initiative, ownership, and a strong interest in long-term growth within piping design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D piping models under the supervision of a discipline lead.
  • Create and revise P&IDs, PFDs, detailed piping orthographics, and isometrics.
  • Produce accurate and constructible designs to reduce fabrication errors.
  • Create, read, and interpret line, manual valve, and site tie-in lists.
  • Apply pipe support details, locations, and spans with growing proficiency.
  • Assemble fabrication and installation drawing packages.
  • Update drawings based on sketches or engineer/designer input.
  • Follow company CAD standards and piping specifications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting or related field preferred.
  • 0–3 years of experience as a pipe designer.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D. 
  • Experience with Autodesk Navisworks products, including Freedom, Simulate, or Manage.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Vault preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with shop/fabrication leads on design constructability.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between St. Louis, MO and Red Bud, IL as needed.
