Position Summary:
The Controller for BCM Energy, LLC, a division of Roeslein & Associates, supports the financial and operational integrity of the company’s Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) trading desk within a broader renewable energy development platform. This role leads daily accounting operations, bridging project-level accounting, corporate finance, and commodity trade support. Responsibilities include accurate financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, and margin analysis across RNG offtake, marketing, and environmental credit transactions.

This position requires a foundation in accounting and financial analysis, with experience or familiarity in commodity or environmental markets. The role collaborates with trading, operations, and project finance teams and requires a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Accounting and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate accounting records for RNG trading and marketing activities, including revenue recognition, cost of sales, and intercompany transactions.
  • Manage all accounts receivable and accounts payable activities related to BCM Energy, LLC.
  • Reconcile daily and monthly positions, invoices, and settlements from counterparties, pipelines, and environmental registries.
  • Prepare monthly close, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Manage cash accounts and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Produce accurate and timely monthly financial statements and analysis.
  • Prepare and oversee annual budgets.
  • Collaborate with corporate accounting and external auditors to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Assist in developing reporting frameworks that integrate trading results with project-level financials.
  • Provide information for annual consolidated financial audits and tax preparation.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed.

Trade Support and Risk Management

  • Partner with traders and schedulers to ensure accurate trade capture, valuation, and mark-to-market reporting.
  • Validate P&L attribution and resolve discrepancies between accounting records and trading system data.
  • Collaborate with risk management to track credit exposure, counterparty performance, and compliance with internal trading policies.
  • Support audit and compliance reviews related to RIN, LCFS, ISCC, or other environmental credit programs.

Process Improvement and Systems

  • Contribute to financial process design and implementation that connects project finance, trading operations, and corporate reporting.
  • Support integration of ERP and ETRM (Energy Trade Risk Management) systems.
  • Identify opportunities to automate reconciliations, invoicing, and reporting using Excel, Power BI, or other analytics tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally within energy trading, project development, or environmental commodities.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting for commodity transactions and project entities.
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and/or ETRM platforms (Endur, Allegro, Molecule, Enverus) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and corporate accounting principles.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; Power BI or Tableau proficiency preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Interest in renewable energy markets, environmental credit systems, and sustainability finance.
