POSITION SUMMARY

Servtech, A Roeslein Company, is seeking an Electrical Application Engineer to join our team in the energy, mining, industrial power markets, and Integrated bio-energy solutions.  This individual must have the desire to perform quality work safely, be detail-oriented, and have superior customer focus. This individual must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. As an Electrical Application Engineer, you will support the design, engineering, procurement, and product life cycle management of large-scale custom manufactured industrial equipment. The Electrical Application Engineer will focus on 3 Phase Power Distribution.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Experience using AutoCAD (Electrical AutoCAD preferred) to review and create:
    • Power one-line diagrams
    • Wiring diagrams
    • Cable/conduit schedules
    • Panel schedules
    • Panel Layouts
    • Creation of BOMs
  • Understanding Conductor and raceway sizing
  • Sizing and selection of power distribution equipment including:
    • Switchgear
    • Motor control centers
    • Panelboards
    • VFD panels
    • Transformers
    • Lighting panels
    • Other electrical equipment
  • Working knowledge with 480 VAC to 4,160 VAC 3-phase systems and equipment
  • Experience with electrical equipment component vendors.
  • Reviewing client specifications to ensure appropriate equipment is selected for the application
  • Experience in laying out panel design.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
  • Comfortable with Customer interaction and bridging gap between engineering and business development team
  • Experience with utility, industrial or data center electrical systems
  • Knowledge and experience with the National Electric Code for sizing and implementation of conductors, raceways, equipment clearances, and other code requirements.
  • Support engineers and Business Development to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Promote a positive working environment to achieve the organization’s goals.
  • Knowledge of UL 508A, UL 891, NEC, and related standards.
  • Must follow training and company procedures.
  • Must be a leader who represents the organization with the ability to be a liaison to our customers, adhere to company standards, and resolve issues with urgency and professionalism.
  • Previous Consulting Engineer and/or post sales experience a plus

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in application engineering, design engineering, or technical support in electrical distribution, controls, or automation.
  • Experience with utility, industrial or data center electrical systems
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems promptly.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is required. Excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Experience of electrical power systems, protective devices and control schemes
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
  • AutoCAD drafting experience beyond a basic level is preferred
  • Experience developing drawings for fabrication of wireway systems is preferred
  • Experience using ETAP electrical design and study software is preferred
  • Excellent Communication skills; both oral and written is required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with an uncontrolled atmosphere.  Exposure to harsh conditions—such as dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods is possible.  All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. regularly is required. Must be able to stand/walk 90% of the time and sit 10% of the time. Requires the ability to work from heights while utilizing the appropriate PPE for each situation.
