Position Summary:
The Project Manager – Renewable Energy is responsible for assisting and supporting Senior Project Managers and Project Directors in the development, negotiation, execution, and management of renewable energy projects. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring the successful delivery of projects that align with sustainability goals, regulatory requirements, and company objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support renewable energy project development by assisting in site selection, permitting, interconnection, and environmental assessments.
- Work closely with Business Development to develop project estimates, schedules, and proposals.
- Assist in negotiating contracts, securing financing, and obtaining necessary regulatory approvals.
- Oversee interconnection processes, coordinating with utilities, regulators, and engineering teams.
- Maintain communication with stakeholders, including utilities, landowners, permitting agencies, and investors.
- Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules to meet cost, timeline, and sustainability goals.
- Manage compliance with industry policies, financial incentives, and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate procurement, permitting, and construction activities with engineers, surveyors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure all project comply with safety standards, including OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Lead regular project meetings and provide updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor project expenditures and financial performance to ensure project profitability.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies for project development, construction, and operations.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies.
- Travel to project sites, company offices, and industry events as needed (up to 25%).
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support training and mentorship of assistant project managers and project coordinators.
- Promote a positive work environment aligned with company goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in both office and field settings. Site visits may involve exposure to weather, remote locations, construction environments, and high-voltage equipment. Travel may be required domestically and internationally.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Renewable Energy, or related field required.
- Minimum of 8 years of project management experience, preferably in renewable energy or infrastructure sectors.
- Experience with renewable energy financing, contract negotiation, and regulatory compliance preferred.
- PMP certification and/or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
- Strong background in budgeting, scheduling, and cost control for large infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of energy incentives, tax credits, and permitting processes at federal, state, and local levels.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings (Bluebeam, Adobe, or hard copies) required.
- Basic AutoCAD knowledge preferred.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with GIS tools and project management software (MS Project or Primavera) preferred.
