POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for producing financial statements and accounting aspects of the business, providing reliable financial information, reporting necessary for operational decisions, and managing accounting and administrative employees.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contact
  • This position will be responsible for interviewing, selecting, and training all new employees to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to perform their duties to the standard of the organization. This position will also be responsible for developing the team and providing feedback for annual performance evaluations.
  • Responsible for the escalation of employee issues and company violations to ensure the employee understands the policies and procedures of the organization.  This position will create and deliver all employee disciplines with the support of Human Resources.
  • Performs all work in compliance with company standards, does not deviate from policies and procedures, and adheres to regulatory requirements.
  • This position will be the point of contact for the team and will respond timely to troubleshoot issues and avoid prolonged delays. Must be able to troubleshoot issues with complete resolution.
  • Identify all safety situations and report issues timely.
  • Must meet deadlines while safely producing a quality product.
  • Must set and adjust employees’ rates of pay and hours of work in collaboration with the production manager.
  • Must have the ability to plan and direct the work of employees.
  • Manage accounting and administrative employees
  • Review bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and depreciation
  • Oversee physical Inventory counts and reconcile to the accounting system
  • Oversee employee cash advances
  • Manage and reconcile Intercompany Transactions
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget
  • Assist headquarters with year-end preparation for outside accountants to do Review and Tax Returns as needed
  • Provide information for annual insurance renewals and insurance audits, including but not limited to health and ancillary benefits, workers comp, and travel
  • Review and manage the cash position
  • Manage Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and step in to perform duties when help is needed
  • Manage Job Cost Reports for financial reporting
  • Drive the Job Cost Projection process with the project managers
  • Job Cost analysis and variance reporting
  • Assist with calculating Billing Rates and Job Cost Labor Rates
  • Monitor debt and ensure entries are posted correctly
  • Review monthly travel premiums and retro-payments for payroll processing
  • Understand and help manage employee vacation and sick leave
  • Become familiar with 401(k) and ESOP, oversee the ongoing accounting of those, and assist with year-end census if needed
  • Collect and provide information for retirement plan audit if needed and Form 5500 filings for both retirement plan and insurance benefits
  • Identify and implement system and process improvements
  • Provide information for required governmental surveys as requested
  • Process wire transfers, ACH payments, and weekly check runs
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects
  • Understand job cost accounting and financial reporting
  • Document procedures, problems/solutions, explanations, descriptions, status updates, etc.
  • Train co-workers on improved procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required
  • Five (5) years of bookkeeping and accounting management experience is preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license as well as a good vehicle record is required.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel.
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Must work well with others in a team-oriented environment and be an example of teamwork for your crew.
  • Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is essential
  • Must have a positive attitude and cooperate well
  • Must be trustworthy and able to maintain confidential information
  • Must be responsible and reliable
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Requires a strong ability to multi-task and flexibility to learn and accept other duties
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills
  • Strong math skills and confidence when working with numbers
  • Excellent computer skills and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based programs
  • Prior experience with Viewpoint Construction Software (Vista) is a plus

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in an office atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures is possible for short periods. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential function of this job successfully.  While performing this position's duties, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. The ability to lift and carry 10 lbs. regularly is required.
