POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for overseeing the entire project management and project coordination teams, ensuring the successful execution of projects from inception to completion. The SPM will provide strategic direction, mentorship, and leadership while managing project performance, budgets, and client relationships. This role is critical in aligning project operations with company goals and ensuring consistent project delivery excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project Oversight & Leadership:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to Project Managers and Project Coordinators, ensuring alignment with project objectives and company standards.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, and execution strategies to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex project challenges and provide solutions to maintain project progress.
- Ensure all project managers follow best practices in risk management, change control, and financial tracking.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement project management methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Team Management & Mentorship:
- Manage the performance, development, and training of the Project Manager and Project Coordinator teams.
- Conduct regular team meetings to align on project progress, challenges, and strategic priorities.
- Mentor and develop project management staff, providing growth opportunities and career progression paths.
- Implement standard operating procedures to streamline project workflows and improve efficiency.
- Lead management of incoming requests for proposals and evaluate their fit to the company’s strengths and abilities.
- Assist in reviewing bids and proposals as they become complete by the project management and mechanical/electrical engineering groups.
- Oversee employee performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and setting professional development goals.
- Implement performance improvement plans (PIPs) when necessary to address underperformance.
- Project Execution & Performance:
- Oversee the coordination and execution of complex projects, ensuring adherence to scope, timeline, and financial objectives.
- Maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as the senior point of contact for project-related discussions.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements and company policies.
- Monitor project management group and implement corrective actions when necessary to enhance performance.
- Support business development efforts by assisting in proposal development, contract negotiations, and client presentations.
- Financial & Risk Management:
- Oversee project budgets, ensuring financial goals are met while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Work closely with finance teams to track project expenditures and profitability.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions and unforeseen costs.
- Assist in post-mortem reviews to evaluate project successes and areas for improvement.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Establish and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Represent the company in high-level client and stakeholder meetings, providing project updates and strategic insights.
- Lead conflict resolution efforts and address client concerns with professionalism and efficiency.
- Must follow training and company procedures.
- Must be a leader who represents the organization with the ability to be a liaison to our customers, adhere to company standards, and resolve issues with urgency and professionalism.
- Must follow good housekeeping practices.

- Performs all work in compliance with company standards, does not deviate from policies and procedures, and adheres to regulatory requirements.

- Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building / Construction Management, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in a technically related field is required. It is strongly preferred that three (5) years of that experience be as a Project Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or Project Manager.
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and / or registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) is preferred.
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and / or registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) is preferred.
- Demonstrated history of strategic and tactical goal setting and attainment.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and excellent presentation skills are required.
- Strong organization, leadership, negotiation, and delegation skills are required.
- Must be able to interact effectively and diplomatically with several diverse people, both on an individual basis as well as within group situations.
- Must be able to develop lasting, positive customer relationships based on focusing on customer satisfaction and obtaining the customer's trust.
- Strong financial background including operations budget development, cost control, and capital spending justification is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of contract laws, jobsite safety procedures, and purchasing practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent organization and planning skills.
- Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
- Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs are required. Specifically, strong skills in using MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an office and in an uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
