Biogas Technology Specialist
Manufacturing and Operations
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Biogas Technology Specialist will support installation and commissioning efforts for biogas and process energy equipment. This role will act as the Commissioning and Start-up Manager for internal technical teams, OEM partners, and customer personnel on-site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and complete equipment Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) and commissioning checklists.
- Support the Lifecycle team with parts list development, including critical and start-up spares.
- Review P&IDs and electrical drawings and provide technical feedback to Engineering.
- Complete and submit PDI reports and daily progress updates in standard company formats.
- Work with Project Management, Engineering, and Construction teams to develop project-specific commissioning plans and schedules.
- Coordinate OEM support during equipment start-up phases.
- Provide on-site guidance and technical support to OEM technicians and contractors.
- Assist Operational Services, Business Development, and Engineering teams with technical expertise.
- Travel 30-60% annually, both domestically and internationally.
- Ensure all activities follow company and safety requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in both office settings and uncontrolled environments. Exposure to dust, chemicals, noise, and weather is possible. Employees must follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE in designated areas.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires regular walking, standing, use of hands, reaching, climbing, bending, and hearing. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs on a regular basis.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Technical certification, associate degree, or equivalent experience in instrumentation, controls, or a related field is required.
- Must be able to troubleshoot equipment and production processes.
- Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting is preferred.
- Knowledge of compressed gas systems, compressors, cooling systems, and biogas-related equipment is preferred.
- Must be comfortable applying past experience and training to new technologies or industries.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems required; experience with hydraulic or pneumatic systems is a plus.
- Prior experience in oil, gas, or biogas industries is a plus.
- Must be able to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and adaptability.
