POSITION SUMMARY:

The Biogas Technology Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support for the installation, and commissioning team. Provide leadership as the “Commissioning and Start‐up Manager” to the Roeslein Technical Specialists, the OEM Technicians, and to the customer that supports site commissioning and start‐up activities, as well as on‐going operations site support after start‐up.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Independently work on technical assignments, such as participating in developing and providing equipment Pre‐Delivery Inspections (PDI’s) and equipment commissioning checklists of the Biogas and Process Energy equipment.
  • Provide support on a comprehensive parts lists for these projects with the Lifecycle team, including critical and start-up spares.
  • Provide technical review of the process layouts (P&ID’s) and electrical drawings for any potential problems and provide feedback to Engineering.
  • Complete concise pre‐delivery inspection (PDI) reports and daily job site progress reports using the Roeslein standard format.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, and Construction Management and develop a project commissioning plan and schedule for each project.
  • Provide coordination of OEM site support for start-up
  • Provide technical and resource support and guidance to OEM’s and contractor personnel on-site.
  • Provide support to personnel in the Operational Services Group, and provide technical support to Business Development, Project Management, and Engineering.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
  • Travel domestically and internationally ranging from 30‐60% per year.
  • May require up to four (4) weeks on site at a time during commissioning and start‐up; occasionally more.
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. on a regular basis is required.

 

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Trade school technical certification/training and/or an Associate’s degree in instrumentation/controls or similar or experienced in a related field is required.
  • Must be capable of working independently on technical problems with minimal guidance from the Operational Services management team or the Project Manager.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machinery and production process problems is required.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of compressed air/gas systems, flooded screw compressors, cooling systems, and other related manufacturing biogas or process energy plant support systems is preferred.
  • Must be able to apply knowledge from prior experience’s and or training to new applications and new industries.
  • Must have a good understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles; understanding of hydraulic or pneumatic systems and schematics is a plus.
  • Prior experience in the oil, natural gas, or Biogas industry is a plus.
  • Must be able to present operational concepts to customers with or without technical backgrounds.
  • Must be able to relate to Senior Management Personnel, as well as Maintenance Technicians in terminology that the individuals can understand.
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written is required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
  • Computer skills and an in‐depth knowledge of Microsoft Office based programs are required.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co‐workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
