Robotics Technician

JOB SUMMARY

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Primary duties will include but not limited to complete robotics service, preventative maintenance, refurbishment programs, training, programming and emergency service calls. Additionally, extensive testing of robot units will be required.  Specification and ordering of parts as necessary for each robot unit processed. Update service reports, tracking notes in the computer system reflecting the steps taken to repair each robot system. Technicians will be required to perform repairs of units down to component level, and will also need soldering skills for cable and emergency in field repairs.  Proficiency with test equipment like a multi-meter will be mandatory.   In depth knowledge of various OEM robot programming languages will be required and many offline programming and software tools.  Must be able to work alone or in a team environment and be computer literate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

Technicians will be required to perform good root cause troubleshooting skills with the use of test equipment (Multi-meter) and various offline software tools. Must be able to work in a team environment and be highly computer literate.

  • (80%) In field robotic service work, customer training, installation programming and support
  • (10%) Documentation of actions taken on service reports, internal and external training documents and customer communication of completions, obstacles and concerns.
  • (10%) In shop repairs of various robot systems, components, planning for service work, and training
  •          Performs routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting
  •          Identify problems with the equipment and root cause analysis 
  •          Electrical diagnostics abilities and minimum basic fundamental understandings 
  •          Mechanical diagnostics abilities and minimum basic fundamental understandings 
  •          Install replacement components, re-initialize, calibrate, debug and touch up program to return into production 
  •          Complete service reports , parts requests and time reports 
  •          Responsible to improve equipment reliability and uptime
  •          Maintain 5S requirements
  •          Material Handling parts of Robots using forklift or crane experience Proper use of IT systems
  •          Proactively assist inside and outside sales teams with new robotic business initiatives 

May be modified from time to time.  Other duties, tasks and work may be assigned.

·    Maintain Warranty Percentage per ISO Requirements  

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  •          Must understand the robotics systems
  •          Strong technical skills; ability to learn and understand Radwell repair of Industrial Controls processes and procedures
  •          Knowledge of PLCs/HMI’s an asset
  •          Knowledge of Robotics (ABB , Fanuc , Kuka , Motoman , Nachi and more) 
  •          Must have a strong awareness of safety and proven safety record

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma and Technical School Certification required (related field)
  • Two year Automation and Robotics certificate or equivalent training and experience required
  • Technical or Industrial product knowledge a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  •          Occasional reaching/working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
  •          Frequent walking
  •          Continuous standing and repetitive hand motion
  •          Lifting requirements include occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and continuous lifting of up to 10 pounds.

 

EMPLOYEE EVALUATION SUMMARY

Employee will be evaluated on quantitative productivity levels regarding amount of repairs that result from actions, number of items processed/followed-up and related activity.  In addition to regular coaching, employee will receive the following written evaluations:

  •          Introductory Review -- Will be written at approximately 80 days after employment and will be used to determine whether employee has sufficiently met and performed the job requirements, and will indicate whether employment will continue
  •          Monthly Reviews – Employee will be given a brief written monthly review primarily focused on quantitative performance and measurement of activity
  •          Annual Reviews – Employee will be given a formal regular annual review, which assesses productivity and demonstrated business skills and accomplishments for the previous period.

WORK SCHEDULE

Work hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm with lunch from 12:00pm to 12:30pm. Additional hours may be required and/or Saturdays. Adherence to attendance and coverage policies is expected to be followed diligently. Time off will be granted with proper formal notice in accordance with company policy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The environment is a warehouse setting.  Dress attire is casual but professional in a warehouse setting.  All employees are required to wear “Radwear” (apparel with company logo) at all times once the initial supply (at company expense) has been received. Closed toed, hard sole heels are required.  Radwell ID Badge and Access cards must be worn at all times. Employees must adhere to all Radwell Safety Requirements at all times (see safety manual posted online).
