Director, Poultry Procurement

Restaurant Supply Chain Solutions, LLC, a Yum! Brands Co-op, is currently seeking a Director of Poultry Procurement to join the Poultry Procurement Team.


As a member of the Poultry Procurement team, the Director will be responsible for all aspects of sourcing and supplier relationship management.  Team member will be accountable for ongoing category leadership including, strategic sourcing, supply and contingency planning, COGs forecasting and supplier item pricing, commodity risk management collaboration, and support for innovation and quality.  This position will work collaboratively with various stakeholders across RSCS and all Yum! Brands concepts (KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Habit Burger Grill) and A&W All American.  This position will have one direct report, a Procurement Analytics Manager. 


Essential Functions


Strategic Sourcing

  • Lead implementation of the RSCS Sourcing Process for assigned items
  • Develop and update Category Profiles, category segmentation to support strategy development and contract negotiations
  • Conduct relevant spend analytics to support overall category sourcing and optimization activities
  • Develop RFx packages, conduct supplier bid analyses, negotiate, and make award decisions
  • Create and assess total cost of ownership models to help analyze alternative, Best Alternative to Negotiating
  • Negotiate and maintain SBRAs (supply agreements) for all suppliers
  • Develop expertise in supplier/industry production processes to analyze supplier capabilities and identify opportunities for Restaurant Margin Improvement (RMI), product improvement and supply chain efficiencies


Supply and Contingency planning

  • Ensure uninterrupted supply of products, both base business and promotional items to Yum! Brands and A&W restaurants by developing a strong and efficient supply chain for all assigned items
  • Develop and document supply contingency plans related to both short and long-term capacity needs
  • Develop supply contingency plans for potential supplier or industry-related disasters
  • Collaborate with program managers to prepare suppliers for promotional needs such as incremental production and new products


COGs Forecasting and Supplier Item Pricing

  • Develops robust COGs models that accurately forecast key SKUs
  • Maintain and verify accuracy of Global Pricing System and other company software applications as it relates to supplier and item setup, pricing, and freight



Commodity Risk Management (CRM)

  • Support CRM team in hedge strategy development and execution and direct suppliers to take positions on critical ingredients as needed to manage market risk and deliver COGs targets
  • Conduct cost analysis and COGs impact as needed resulting from various hedge strategies


Concept Support – innovation and quality

  • Enable and facilitate new product innovation by leveraging the resources of strategic suppliers
  • Determine and recommend best supplier for new vendor selection and best product alternatives for new products
  • Support product development and quality assurance managers on innovation and commercialization of new products
  • Participate as a member of, and lead when required, cross-functional project teams
  • Collaborate with quality assurance managers on spec changes, ingredient changes, and quality issues
  • Negotiate price, capacity, order minimums, and lead times for introduction of suppliers or new products


Supplier Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships ensuring RSCS/Yum! is a priority customer for industry leading costs, supply assurance, and resources
  • Conduct annual supplier evaluation and scorecard process for STAR Awards as assigned
  • Conduct annual supplier segmentation

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following areas: Poultry Procurement (preferred), Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, and/or Program Management.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Supply Chain, or related field. Master’s or MBA preferred.
  • Prefer prior leadership role with restaurant concept or CPG company
  • Candidate will have an extremely high level of ambition and motivation for success, will be solutions oriented, proactive and results driven
  • Candidate will also have the innate curiosity to use data to make decisions and will be able to lead and influence
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to shift gears quickly
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI, and Outlook
  • Ability to think strategically and entrepreneurially, while keeping an eye on tactical execution
  • Strong organizational skills, including ability to prioritize and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the supply chain processes including manufacturing, logistics and distribution
  • Ability to garner trust and respect of all constituents, while managing tight timelines in a dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail is critical.

  • Travel required – less than 25%
