JOB SUMMARY

Primary functions include the repair, testing, and rewinding of electric motors and related industrial equipment. Key responsibilities are diagnosing and repairing units down to the component level, ordering necessary parts, updating repair notes in our tracking system, and ensuring full functionality using shop tools and test equipment. Additional duties involve inspecting, testing, cleaning, and labeling industrial surplus items, as well as evaluating incoming units for repair (including warranty returns), and verifying part numbers and quantities.

Experience in electric motors, machine shop work, industrial maintenance, CNC, or robotics is highly desirable. Candidates must be comfortable working in a team environment and possess basic computer skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • (90%) Perform bench-level electro-mechanical repairs using standard troubleshooting methods
  • (10%) Document repairs, communicate completion times, delays, and concerns
  • Evaluate physical condition and diagnose malfunctions of units
  • Estimate parts and labor costs for repairs
  • Process units from pre-evaluation to Ready-to-Ship (RTS) condition
  • Disassemble and reassemble motors using proper techniques
  • Operate motor shop tools and equipment (e.g., rewind machines, burn-off oven, brazing torch, sandblast cabinet, rigging/lifting tools)
  • Clean, sandblast, paint, and label completed motors
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including bearing and seal replacement
  • Test motors to verify compliance with specs using oscilloscopes, Mitchell Diagnostics, and OEM amplifiers
  • Use IT systems for documentation and workflow
  • Support cross-departmental work to help reduce customer backlog

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
  • Proficient with hand and power tools
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
  • Ability to run industrial machinery independently, safely and accurately.

HOURS

  • Monday through Friday - 7:00am to 4:00pm
     

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma
  • Technical School Certification preferred
  • Technical or Industrial product knowledge a plus


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Occasional reaching/working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
  • Frequent walking
  • Continuous standing and repetitive hand motion
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
  • Familiarity with handling heavy parts and utilizing safe handling equipment/practices
